The song Good Vibrations will always be remembered for many 1st s in the history of pop and rock music. Besides being #1 in the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1966, it was also #1 in British chart-topper. When it was released in late 1966, Good Vibrations was undoubtedly the #1 most technically advanced single yet recorded. It was also touted as being the most expensively-produced American single ever released up to that time; another 1st. The song revolutionized the entire scene of pop and rock music in the following years to come. This is what can be truly termed as legendary and even today, it is unanimously acclaimed as one of the most important and influential pop singles ever released. Perhaps no other song will even come close to when we talk about Good Vibrations being #1 in many ways. The song is a true timeless classic pop.
Good Vibrations was written by Brian Wilson, Tony Asher and Mike Love of The Beach Boys and released in November 1966. This was the third number-one hit by the group after "I Get Around" and "Help Me Rhonda." Beach Boys leader, composer, and producer Brian Wilson described "Good Vibrations" as a "pocket symphony," and Good Vibrations band tab is indeed reminiscent of symphony orchestra accompanied by multiple instruments that create a smooth blend of layered music. The song is well known for featuring unconventional use of instruments that included cello playing triplets. The distinctive "woo woo" sound at the end of the record was created with an electro-theremin, played by Paul Tanner (the instrument uses an electric field to create sounds).
The band was appropriately rewarded with the inclusion of Good Vibrations in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's top 500 songs that Shaped Rock and Roll music.
"Good Vibrations" earned The Beach Boys a Grammy nomination for Best Vocal Group performance in 1966 and the song was eventually inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1994. It has featured highly in many 'Top 100 records of all time' charts and was voted #1 in the Mojo Top 100 Records of All Time chart in 1997. Rolling Stone magazine ranked "Good Vibrations" as the sixth best song of all time.

The origin of the title "Good Vibrations" has a story behind it that has been narrated by Brian Wilson on many occasions. During his early childhood, Wilson's mother told him that dogs could pick up "vibrations" from people and the dog would bark when it sensed "bad vibrations". Wilson carved this into the general idea of vibrations (and Mike Love added "good" in front of vibrations), and developed the idea of people being able to do the same with emotions. Wilson initially sought help from "Pet Sounds" lyricist Tony Asher, to write the song based on this idea. Beach Boys group member Mike Love eventually completed the final version of the lyrics around August1966. The actual production of the song spanned over seventeen recording sessions at four different recording studios, utilizing over 90 hours of tape and an eventual price tag of $50,000.
The song's one liner "Good Vibrations" - "The Sunkist Taste Sensation" used in the 1978 commercial for the introduction of Sunkist orange soda, helped the company to reap a bonanza. By 1981 Sunkist Orange Soda had become the No. 1 orange soda and the No. 10 best selling soft drink in the USA. Song's another #1 for the cultural impact!!
